Using Behavioral Informatics to Improve Health Outcomes

Behavioral informatics an important addition to the toolbox of social and behavior change programming. Easy-to-use tools and data dashboards at the household, community, and program levels make it possible for program participants themselves — mothers, families, communities and health workers — to regularly assess progress in behavior change and take timely action. This session will define behavioral informatics for health program use, show examples of proven tools and systems for tracking behaviors which empower program participants from Guatemala, Cambodia and Zambia, and enable practice using behavioral informatics to facilitate behavior change. In addition, at the program level, these tools support programs to apply adaptive management techniques to make changes and course correct in time for impact.
