Moving Beyond Data, Toward Learning and Action
A cycle of learning is critical for success in global health; enabling donors, implementers, and beneficiaries to move beyond using monitoring data for reporting purposes, and toward using data to better understand programmatic realities and make needed adaptations. Data alone will not close information gaps, however; developing a learning culture and systems to facilitate learning may. We will discuss how MEASURE Evaluation, RTI and the Maternal and Child Survival Program (MCSP) implement unique approaches to generate evidence and provide practical guidance on systems that apply routine data to learning and action for better programming. We will then work in small groups to identify evidence gaps, design mock research questions, methods and dissemination strategies for moving from learning to action, using real-world examples.
