Global Noncommunicable Diseases in the Covid Era: A Student Perspective
Session Date: April 24, 2021
Session Description: Increased attention to Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs) during the COVID-19 pandemic represents a fundamental shift in attitude among many working in the global health (GH) community. Although unlikely to die from COVID-19, young people will be deeply affected by the long-term economic, health-related, and other consequences of the pandemic. Young people, especially students, also have the potential to disrupt and transform global health practices – yet there is little engagement or knowledge transfer among students, by students, on meaningful ways to bring about change. In this session, students from a range of education levels and backgrounds will share their experiences working within the Global NCDs space during the COVID-19 pandemic and help identify opportunities for learning, engagement, and growth during a time of uncertainty.
