Advancing Research and Evaluation Partner Capacity: Demonstrating a Facilitated Rapid Self-Assessment for Actionable Institutional Strengthening
Session Date: April 21, 2021
Session Description: The Research and Evaluation Capacity Assessment and Resource Package (RECAP) is a recent product from the USAID-funded Data for Impact (D4I) project that is tailored for organizations that conduct evaluations and other non-clinical research studies to collect, analyze, communicate, and use new and existing data to address health information gaps. The RECAP supports local organizations in several ways, including in efforts to: 1) assess technical and management capacity for conducting research and evaluations, 2) create actionable plans for institutional strengthening, 3) improve country capacity to address health information gaps locally, and 4) enhance skills needed to receive direct awards from USAID and other funders. This newly developed package includes an assessment tool, guidance for action planning to strengthen institutional capacity, and a list of low/no cost resources indexed by capacity domain. During this live learning session, D4I and a local partner from Nepal will provide an overview, demonstration, and review of pilot results of the RECAP assessment tool, workbook, and institutional strengthening planning resources. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the assessment tool and participate in the institutional strengthening plan development process.
